Dr. Smith, Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon, is a graduate of University of Florida where he received his medical degree. He then went on to complete his Orthopaedic Residency in Brooklyn, NY. After his residency, Dr. Smith then pursued Fellowship training in Sports Medicine at the Florida Orthopaedic Institute in Tampa, Florida.
Dr. Smith has been a resident of the Atlanta area for 14 years where he has lived with his family and practiced Orthopaedic Surgery. He has experience with all aspects of General Orthopaedics. Additionally, he specializes in advanced arthroscopic techniques in the treatment of joints, as well as minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Smith is a published writer and knowledgeable of all the latest techniques and treatment alternatives in Orthopaedic surgery.
His experience includes professional, collegiate and high school athletes. However, he prefers treating the everyday blue collar person. Dr. Smith can be found on staff at Southern Regional Medical Center, Piedmont Henry Hospital, and the Surgery Center of Roswell. Dr. Smith is married with two children. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family wakeboarding, wakesurfing, hiking and helping his father on the farm.
Dr. Stanley Tao is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon who received his Medical Degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. He also received a certificate of added qualification in Sports Medicine.
He attended the Medical College of Ohio where he completed both his internship and residency programs in the Orthopaedic Surgery program. He also completed a Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Fellowship at Orthopaedic Research of Virginia.
Dr. Tao’s specialty is Sports Medicine and joint surgeries. He is well published, and his number one priority is to help patients select the best treatment to provide the best outcome.
Dr. Tao has been named a Castle Connolly Top Doctor and America’s Top Physician annually since 2004. When he’s not practicing medicine, Dr. Tao enjoys spending time with family, traveling, playing tennis, and basketball.
Dr. Joshua Levy is Board Certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He attended New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2001 where he received his Medical Degree. This was followed by his completion of a PM&R residency at NUMC on Long Island. Levy also completed a Sports Medicine and Interventional Spine fellowship at UMDNJ in New Jersey. While at UMDNJ, he was Assistant Team Physician for both Rutgers University and the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
Dr. Levy oozes enthusiasm in regard to the practice of medicine. He is fully committed to serving his patients with compassion, understanding, and education. When he’s not practicing medicine, Dr. Levy’s hobbies include collecting art, rescuing animals and spending time with his family.
Dr. Thai Truong is Board Certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He completed his medical degree from the University of North Carolina, School of Medicine, Chapel Hill. Dr. Truong has experience in treating spinal injuries, peripheral joint injuries, soft tissue injuries, and mild traumatic brain injury/non-athletic concussions. Always ready to treat those who have been injured in accidents, Dr. Truong can be found at our Raleigh, NC location.
When he’s not practicing medicine, Dr. Truong likes to play basketball, weightlifting, cooking, and traveling around the world.
Carl Tyler Shenkman, MD, JD, LLM, is a Board-Certified Neurologist with fellowship training in epilepsy and neuro-critical care management.
Dr. Shenkman completed his neurology residency at New York Medical College’s St. Vincent’s Medical Center. He further specialized in epilepsy and neuro-critical care management through advanced training at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center’s Neurological Institute in Manhattan.
Beginning his career in Atlanta, he later relocated to the Golden Isles of Southeast Georgia, where he successfully established and ran a neurological practice for 20 years.
In addition to his medical career, Dr. Shenkman pursued legal education while maintaining a full-time practice. He earned a Juris Doctorate from Florida Coastal School of Law in 2014, followed by a postdoctoral Master of Healthcare Law (LLM) from Loyola School of Law, Chicago, in 2016. With extensive experience, he is recognized as an expert in analyzing the cause and effect of neurological injuries across various cases.
Dr. Shenkman also has a certification in Life Care Planning. This allows him to serve as an expert, evaluating future medical needs and economic considerations for individuals affected by neurological trauma.
